Sunday Worship: St Thomas' Church Online and In Person

Updated 25th March 2021

On 23rd March the First Minister confirmed the relaxation of Covid-related restrictions on worship to permit in-person communal worship of up to 50 people from Friday 26 March. On that basis, we have planned some in-person services from 28th March which will include a Maundy Thursday communion service and two communion services on Easter Day, at 8:00 am and 10:30 am. Online services will continue throughout. See current schedule here.

Church Online

Church online meets at 10:30 am on Sunday mornings, and our focus is on a genuine encounter with God through relationships, our worship together, praying, and engaging with the bible. We especially aim for our times together to be clear and accessible to guests with no church background or who are exploring the Christian faith.

Worship events, including Sunday services and midweek prayers, are available online at:

Church in the building under Covid-19 restrictions - what will and won’t happen on Sunday mornings:

  • We will endeavour to provide a warm welcome!
  • We will be together for a maximum of one hour for a mixture of prayer, music and Bible teaching.
  • Pre-service registration will be required (in case of need to follow up if infection is linked to our gathering)
  • People who feel unwell should stay at home
  • Hand sanitiser stations for use on arrival and on leaving
  • Maximum of 50 people in building. Seating for 30 to 40 people
  • Face coverings to be used inside
  • No physical contact - 2 metre social distancing at all times
  • No singing, but we’ll speak the Bible songs of worship from Psalms.
  • No refreshments will be served and we will be encouraged to leave the building quickly
  • Cleaning of surfaces post-worship

Our normal Sunday worship patterns

When meeting face-to-face in our church buildings:

  • We share Holy Communion on the first and third Sundays of each month and usually have a Café Church service on the fourth Sunday.
  • Our groups for children and young people meet during this service, except during Café Church.
  • As a way of ending our time together, we serve refreshments in the hall. At our once-a-month Café Church we enjoy refreshments all the way through our worship!
  • Once a month we have a late afternoon, informal service called 'Embrace'. We start with refreshments at 4:45 and run for about an hour. All ages are welcome to this service.
Hello and welcome to our church. If you are a new visitor, we have a page for you to get to know us and learn more about planning a visit.
